GM Adds Sixth Production Day at Michigan Truck Plant

General Motors announced that it is adding a sixth production day at its Flint Assembly plant in Michigan to increase output of heavy-duty pickup trucks starting in June 2026.

Increase From 5-Day Production Week

The Flint facility currently runs a five-day schedule and is one of GM’s main sites for heavy-duty truck production. It runs continuously with three shifts, building Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra heavy-duty models.

The company said it is changing the plant’s schedule to keep up with demand. The additional day is expected to increase output at the site, where about 1,100 trucks are produced daily, including 2500 and 3500 series models.

Meeting Strong Truck Demand in the US

Even with recent raises in fuel prices, GM said it has not seen much change in demand for its heavy-duty pickups.

Sales for these vehicles in the United States is steady, with the company selling about 320,000 Silverado and Sierra heavy-duty trucks in 2025.
